Committee changes January 2008

A Note from the (now former) SJA president

Dear SJA members,

Those among you who were present at the last General Assembly know it already: with the New Year 2008 the committee of your association has changed somewhat. Marc-Étienne JAN has replaced Cédric OELHAFEN, who decided not to re-apply for committee membership. Marc-Étienne doesn't come with empty hands as he ambitions to turn the SJA into a place where potential employers interested in people having experience of Japan would come naturally to find candidates.

After four years as SJA president I wanted to hand this position over to Cédric MOREL. These years have seen the establishment of the sponsorship as well as our SJA grants, which have already benefited to 9 persons. Cédric, who has largely contributed to the sponsorship and to the grants, will, together with the entire committee, bring our association to new horizons.

Also, Nadia NIBBIO and Nathalie PIGUET remain at the committee, Nadia as responsible for the database and for the member's directory, and Nathalie as general secretary.

As for me I have taken over the role of Vice-President where I will concentrate on the communication with our members.
