How to Enter and Leave Japan
!! Under construction !!
This chapter is about visas, registrations and permits : - Visas
- Re-entry permit
- Alien registration
Visas!! Under construction !!Re-entry permitIf you want to leave japan for a short period during your stay, you have to ask for a re-entry permit otherwise you'll be in trouble when coming back. There are two different kind of re-entry permits : a "single re-entry" valid only for one trip abroad and a "multiple re-entry" valid during one year for an indefinite number of journeys outside the country.Alien registrationOnce you are living in Japan, you will have to register to the municipality of where you live (kuyakusho). This has to be done within 90 days of your arrival and, if you move to another place, you have to announce it within 14 days. Youwill get an "Alien Registration Card". It is required by law to carry it with you at all times. I don't know anybody who was asked to show it to a police agent, but if it happens and you haven't the card with you you risk to be arrested!
